Waste Management

The government’s 25 Year Environment Plan and Resources and Waste Strategy aims to allow companies to develop measures to eliminate avoidable polymeric waste, tackle confusion over household recycling, and make sure an extended range of materials are being recovered and recycled, with key strategies across the following five areas:

  1. Make all plastic packaging placed on the market recyclable, reusable or compostable by 2025;
  2. Eliminating food waste to landfill by 2030;
  3. Prevent avoidable polymeric waste over the lifetime of the 25 Year Environment Plan;
  4. Double resource productivity by 2050; and
  5. Eliminate all avoidable waste by 2050.

To encourage such strategic ambitions and create a more circular national economy , a wide range of incentives have been made available. Although a series of guidelines and strategies set by the EA and DEFRA exist, GKA’s vast experience in this sector has indicated a lack of industry clarity with regards to the most optimal and pain-free path for companies to utilise the range of available funding schemes.

GKA Innovation’s experts have an ocean of knowledge dealing with a wide range of waste management firms, from medium-sized national recycling specialists to large multi-disciplinary waste disposal firms with turnovers exceeding £50m.
